What parents ask us most
Campuses and grades
Which campuses does Orchids World School have?
Two: Financial District in Hyderabad and Electronic City in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru campus was Ambitus World School and carries the Orchids World School name from April 2027.
Which grades does each campus run?
Electronic City: Pre-KG to Grade 7 today. Grade 8 opens in 2027-28, Grade 9 on IGCSE in 2028-29 and Grade 10 in 2029-30.
Financial District: Cambridge from Pre-KG to Grade 3 and Grades 6 to 8 in 2027-28, reaching Pre-KG to Grade 10 in 2029-30. See the campus page.
Both campuses: Cambridge AS and A Level (Grades 11 and 12) are planned from 2029-30.
What are the school timings?
Financial District: 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Electronic City: 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM.
Is Orchids World School part of a larger group?
Yes. It is part of the Orchids family of schools, with 140+ schools in 21 cities. Our teachers draw on the network’s classroom practice, training and programmes.
Curriculum and recognition
Which curricula does the school offer?
Cambridge from Pre-KG to Grade 10, finishing with the Cambridge IGCSE, with AS and A Level planned from 2029-30. CBSE is available as an optional route in Grades 9 and 10.
Is IGCSE recognised in India?
Yes. A pass in five subjects, including English, with at least 33% in each, is treated as equivalent to Class 10. Results for students in India also show Percentage Uniform Marks. Equivalence rules are being updated, so we confirm the current position with every family at admission and again in Grade 8.
Is IGCSE enough for university admission in India?
No. Like Class 10, it is not enough for an undergraduate place. Students need Class 12 or equivalent, such as Cambridge AS and A Level with the right combination of subjects. Many parents do not know this, so we explain it at admission and again in Grade 8.
What happens after Grade 10?
Both campuses run to Grade 10 today. We plan to offer Cambridge AS and A Level from 2029-30, so students can stay on after IGCSE. They can also move to Class 11 on an Indian board, or to the IB Diploma elsewhere. Our guidance starts in Grade 8.
What about JEE and NEET?
Neither IGCSE nor A Level prepares students for JEE or NEET on its own. Families aiming at these exams can choose the optional CBSE route in Grades 9 and 10 and plan coaching alongside it.
How is Cambridge different from CBSE?
Cambridge sets learning goals for each stage and tests them against international benchmarks, and leaves textbooks, timetable and method to the school. CBSE sets a detailed national syllabus. Here the Cambridge goals are taught through the Orchids Teaching Way, with practical work and projects.
Is the school recognised by the state government?
Both campuses are recognised schools under their state’s rules, and recognition details are available on request. Every child is registered on the national student database and gets a PEN.
Learning and progress
How will I know how my child is doing?
Through teachers’ ongoing records, parent-teacher meetings and written reports. From Grade 2 your child also takes Cambridge Progression Tests, and in Grades 5 and 8 the Checkpoint gives an external benchmark. These are for planning support, not for ranking.
Why no marks out of 100 or ranks?
Because they do not tell you what to do next. Our reports show where your child is secure and where they need help in each part of a subject. From Grade 9 you also see predicted IGCSE grades.
Does my child have to pass Checkpoint?
There is nothing to pass. Checkpoint is a diagnostic test marked by Cambridge. It carries no certificate and does not decide whether your child moves up.
What languages will my child learn?
English is the language of instruction. Children also learn a second and third language, starting in UKG at Electronic City, with Kannada as required in Karnataka. At Financial District, children learn Telugu from Grade 1 to Grade 10 as Telangana law requires, plus Hindi or French.
What is the class size?
At Financial District the average class is 25. At Electronic City classes average 15 in Early Years, 20 in Primary and 10 in Lower Secondary, with 16 full-time and 5 part-time teachers. In Early Years, up to 16 children in Pre-KG with one adult for every 8, and up to 20 in LKG and UKG with one adult for every 12. Admissions can share current class sizes for either campus on a visit.
What is the age criterion for Grade 1?
The National Education Policy puts Grade 1 at age 6, and each state sets its own rule. In Karnataka a child must be 6 on 1 June of the admission year. Admissions confirm the rule for your campus.
Day to day
Are co-curricular programmes part of the school day?
Yes. Arts, sports, public speaking, wellbeing, STEM and financial literacy are built into the school week, not left to after-school hours.
What laboratory and library facilities are available?
Financial District: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Robotics and Mathematics labs, a dance and music room, technology-enabled learning spaces and a library. Electronic City: smart classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab and a library.
Does the school provide transportation?
Financial District: AC and non-AC buses with GPS tracking, with one-way options. The transport team can share routes and fees. Electronic City: AC buses with GPS tracking and a lady attendant on each bus, with fees by distance.
How do parents receive updates?
Through circulars, email and the school app, plus parent-teacher meetings during the year.
Does the school provide individual attention?
Yes. Teachers observe each child’s progress, support them according to their learning needs and tell parents early about areas that need work.
How does the school help a child settle in?
Teachers and the school team support new students closely during the transition. New joiners have a settling-in conversation in the first weeks, and every class has a key person or form tutor who knows each child. SOCH, our wellbeing programme, runs with behavioural counsellors.
